Margie B. Klein has lived in southern Nevada since 1991, transplanting herself from Wisconsin. She has had a long career in agriculture and natural resources there, with projects ranging from native plant advisor to cactus cop. She has advocated for the conservation of natural areas of the Mojave desert and for public education about them. Now retired, she spends her time tending gardens and writing about her adventures.
Water shortages in the Mojave Desert, increased utility rates and a hotter climate each year led this couple to convert their once lush and green lawn into a new, xeric landscape of rocks and native plants.
