As many of you know, I am a Visiting Fellow at Catholic University's Institute for Policy Research & Catholic Studies. Tomorrow, we are co-hosting an event, Catholic Archives in the Digital Age, with the University of Notre Dame's Office of the President & Hesburgh Libraries and Archives, and CUA's Department of Library and Information Sciences. We will be bringing together archivists with religion newswriters to discuss what archival holdings are available online, what holdings can be digitized quickly as needed, and what other holdings are not yet digitized but are available for in-depth, non-deadline, reporting. One panel will focus specifically on holdings related to the Hispanic presence in the Church in the U.S. And, in the afternoon, there will be an "entre nous" conversation for the archivists about best practices. At lunch, Bishop John Wester, chair of the USCCB Communications Committee will give a keynote address.
