The Public Religion Research Institute has posted a paper by their CEO, Robert P. Jones, and Research Associate Juhem Navarro-Rivera, that examines why some people support a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, and others do not. As you might have guessed, the differences are rooted in differing values. Jones has been doing some fine work in the area of polling on underlying values for years now, and Navarro-Rivera is a rising star. He formerly worked with Mark Silk at Trinity College's Greenberg Center for the Study of Religion in Public Life, whose commentaries I frequently cite. Navarro-Rivera has the additional bonus of being a UConn Husky!
