Over at the Al Jazeera America website, journalist Nathan Schneider offers a detailed portrait of the work of a Catholic woman religious who serves members of the transgender community. Not surprisingly, the sister’s name and congregational affiliation are kept anonymous throughout this moving account.
Though most members of the Roman Catholic hierarchy have yet to even utter the word “transgender,” this sister has served the community for over a decade. It’s a must read.
