Charges against a Worcester bishop will be dismissed after he "agreed to plead guilty to a charge of refusing a chemical breath test." Bishop Robert McManus was originally charged for driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident after striking another driver, John Smith, on May 4, according to NBC News:
“According to the police report, McManus was unsteady on his feet, swaying in a circular motion, and slurring his words to the point the arresting officer said it was difficult to understand. The officer said he could smell a moderate odor of alcohol and that McManus' face was red and his eyes were severely bloodshot.”
Though the DUI charge was dismissed because McManus had no previous record, he still lost driver license privileges for six months and “was ordered to pay $900 in fines and court costs.”
