Pope Francis has decided to auction off the Harley Davidson motorbike he was given in June. The proceeds will be used to raise money for refurbishment at the hostel and soup kitchen in Rome.
Francis has shown he has little taste for flashy vehicles, according to England's The Telegraph, preferring to greet the public from Fiats during recent visits to Lampedusa and Brazil instead of the Mercedes popemobile used by his predecessor, Pope Benedict.
The Harley was given to him when 35,000 Harley enthusiasts gathered in Rome to celebrate the motorcycle's 110th birthday. Many of the riders packed into St. Peter's Square for a papal blessing, lining their bikes up on Via della Conciliazione, which runs into the square.
